If you don't mind small movie screens with some of the movie being projected on the curtains and seat backs then this is the place for you. Unfortunately Alpena doesn't have great options and both theaters are owned by the same corporation so this review is mostly moot.
Concession had nice options, but theater needs some work. Broken chairs in the cinema and door to outer hallway didn't shut all the way. But picture and sound was good.
Alpena doesn't have a good theater. It's old, it smells, the seats are terribly uncomfortable. There are only 3 movies showing at a time. The screens are mildly damaged and it detracts from the experience. And while concessions are expensive at every movie theater, they are 30-50% more expensive here. We often drive to Gaylord to see movies for all of the above reasons. Alpena is their captive audience because there isn't another good theater around within in hour's drive!
Most expensive popcorn and soda ever. Seats are broken. it's been like this for years it seems like they don't care. Gaylord has a really nice cinema why can't alpena?
I think it has a grand old comfy atmosphere. This theater is one of the last old classic theaters!
